Privacy Policy

This policy explains how PETROPHYSICS Pty Ltd collects, uses and protects personal information through petrophysics.net and in providing our consulting, training and webinar services. We are based in Perth, Western Australia.

1. What we collect
Enquiries: your name, company, city, email address, phone number and message when you use our contact form or email us.
Accounts: your name, email address and username when you register. Passwords are stored in encrypted form and we cannot read them.
Purchases: the courses or webinars you buy, the access period, the date and the amount paid. Card payments are processed by Stripe. We do not see or store your full card details.
Course records: attendance and access history for live courses and recorded webinars.
Technical information: your IP address, browser type, device and the pages you visit, collected automatically when you use the site.

2. How we use it
To provide the courses, webinars and services you request, including giving you access for the period you purchased.
To process payments and keep records we are required to keep for tax and accounting.
To respond to enquiries and provide support.
To keep a register of registered users and purchases.
To protect our course content and accounts, including detecting shared logins and unauthorised copying.
To tell you about future courses and webinars, but only where you have agreed. You can opt out at any time.
For visitors in the United Kingdom and European Union, we rely on these legal bases: performing our contract with you, our legitimate interests in running and protecting the business, your consent for marketing, and compliance with legal obligations.

3. Who we share it with
We do not sell personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run the business, and only as far as they need it:
Stripe, which processes payments.
VdoCipher, which hosts and streams our live and recorded course video securely.
Our website host and the technical providers who build and maintain the site.
Email and business software providers.
Professional advisers such as accountants and lawyers.
Government bodies where the law requires it.
If you book a course through a third-party organiser, that organiser’s own privacy policy applies to the information you give them.

4. Information sent overseas
Some of our service providers are located outside Australia, including in India, the United States and the European Union. We take reasonable steps to make sure they handle your information securely and in line with this policy.

5. Cookies
The site uses cookies that it needs to work, for example to keep you logged in. If we use analytics tools to understand how the site is used, those may also set cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, although some parts of the site, such as logging in, may then not work.
6. Security and how long we keep it
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. We keep it only as long as we need it to provide our services and meet our legal obligations, including keeping financial records for the period required by Australian tax law, and then delete it or make it anonymous.

7. Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it. You can also ask us to delete it, unless we need to keep it by law, and you can withdraw consent to marketing at any time. If you are in the United Kingdom or European Union, you also have the right to receive your data in a portable format and to object to or restrict some uses of it.
To make a request, email mark@petrophysics.net. We will respond within 30 days.

8. Complaints
If you have a concern about how we have handled your information, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au). In the United Kingdom you can contact the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk), and in the European Union your local data protection authority.

9. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated.
